Our group negotiates with Cambodian senior leaders on Cambodian mine development projects

2019-04-11

Recently, our group representatives arrived in Cambodia to meet with local high-level officials. The two sides held cordial and friendly talks. The Cambodian government has detailed the local resources, especially the mineral resources. We have in-depth understanding of the local mineral resources and negotiated with the Cambodian government on mine development projects. According to senior Cambodian leaders, Cambodia has rich mineral resources such as gold, copper, iron, zinc, lead, sapphire and ruby. Especially in recent years, Cambodia has successively discovered a considerable amount of reserves, which has attracted the attention of international mining companies. The mining areas of Cambodia are mainly distributed in the northwestern part of the country, such as Preah Vihear, Otto Mian, Buddy Mian, Bailing, the northeastern province of Ratanakiri, Mondokiri and Shangding, and the central Kampong province.

Although Cambodia’s mining industry has great potential, Cambodia’s mining industry faces many challenges, including lack of human resources, high costs, weak technology, irregular mining of minerals, high risk of exploration and investment, large quantities of landmines and explosive remnants of war, and The establishment and improvement of relevant mining policies.

Due to the lag in exploration work, Cambodia has not yet drawn a complete map of the national mineral resources. The known distribution of mineral resources cannot be illustrated by charts. The main metal mineral resources discovered so far are distributed in the highlands and mountainous areas of the northeast, north, west, northwest, southwest and south.

After exploration, Cambodia's mineral resources are most conspicuous with iron ore reserves. According to statistics, Cambodia has proven iron ore reserves of more than 60 million tons, and prospective reserves of more than 200 million tons. Compared with the current situation of resource storage in China, it is not optimistic: due to the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization, the consumption of minerals and energy is increasing rapidly. Although China is a resource-rich country, the per capita possession of many important mineral resources is low. According to the National Development and Reform Commission, by 2020, the supply of important metal and non-metal mineral resources in China will be reduced, except for rare earths, and the rest will drop by 35%.

In this context, our group responded to the government's call to “go out” and develop a new resource supply base, which is also an urgent requirement for the sustainable development of China's economy. Our group is committed to investment and development in various fields, covering primary resources, renewable resources, etc. It has good cooperative relations with Chinese government departments and related enterprises, and has strong strength and rich experience in raw ore mining and mineral processing. During the talks, the two sides held preliminary discussions. The Cambodian side expressed great enthusiasm for the rich mining experience of the Group and expressed the expectation of successful cooperation with our group. The two sides have determined the initial cooperation intention.
