2018-12-18

Recently, Vice Presidents of the Eight Asian Chambers of Commerce, Ruwan Edirisinghe and Dr. M. Rohitha Silva, came to our company to have a deep and friendly negotiation on urban construction, education, infrastructure and new energy cooperation in Sri Lanka. As an island country in the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka actively participates in the One Belt, One Roadinitiative proposed by China and hopes to regain its position as the trading center of the Indian Ocean by One Belt and One Road, especially the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The establishment, development and improvement of China-Slovakia's sincere mutual assistance and generation-friendly strategic partnership have provided basic support for the development of strategic linkages between the two countries with the Belt and Roadas the link.

In 2016, due to the negative growth of India's import and export to Sri Lanka, China overtook India to become Sri Lanka's largest source of imports and became Sri Lanka's largest trading partner. In recent years, Sri Lanka has developed an ambitious infrastructure development plan and built a number of key projects covering the fields of electric energy, transportation, water conservancy and communications, but Sri Lanka still faces a relatively backward overall infrastructure, almost all of which Foreign capital support is required for the construction of large infrastructure projects. At present, although there are more than 30 countries and international organizations that provide financial support for infrastructure construction in Sri Lanka, they are still concentrated in China, Japan, the United States, and countries such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.

Since the mid-1980s, Chinese companies have accounted for about 30% of the engineering contracting market in Sri Lanka. A series of transportation infrastructure and water conservancy projects are being implemented steadily. Currently, China is Sri Lanka's largest infrastructure construction partner. According to statistics, as of the end of 2016, Chinese enterprises have invested 1.55 billion U.S. dollars in infrastructure projects, involving transportation, water, electricity, ports and other fields, creating more than 100,000 jobs for Sri Lanka. Mr. Ruwan Edirisinghe said in this negotiation that he is eager to cooperate with our company to jointly develop the construction of Sri Lanka and its infrastructure.

The cooperation of large projects has promoted the economic and social development of Sri Lanka and has been widely recognized by the Sri Lankan people. The official also believes that the One Belt and One Roadinitiative, which advocates the joint construction and sharing, pays special attention to infrastructure construction and is the driving force for promoting new global cooperation. According to a survey conducted by the Sri Lanka Business Journal, 72% of respondents believe that China is the key to Sri Lanka's economic development. The respondents pointed out that China provided free assistance and loans to Sri Lanka and made major contributions to the implementation of large-scale projects in Sri Lanka.

The common heart is one of the "five links" path of "One Belt, One Road" construction, which can enhance mutual understanding, trust and friendship with the target countries, and is the fundamental destination of the "Belt and Road" initiative. At present, with the continuous improvement of the humanities communication mechanism, humanities exchanges and non-governmental exchanges have promoted the deepening of pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism, education, youth, think tanks, media and training.

In the Sino-Syrian joint communiqué issued in May 2013, the two countries decided to establish a bilateral exchange and mutual visit mechanism. The Chinese side provides scholarships to Sri Lanka through various channels and is willing to consider increasing the number of scholarships for international students. Sex. When the Sri Lankan President visited China in March 2015, he expressed his gratitude to China for providing 2,000 training places to Sri Lanka in the next five years. Attracting China's investment in developing the national economy and building a strategic partnership with China are two key pillars of Sri Lanka's development and China's relations. Under the background of China becoming an important source of international investment and Sri Lanka's growing demand for investment, the internal drive of Sino-Sri Lankan cooperation has not changed. The two countries have deepened multi-field cooperation, especially in the cooperation of large projects. The future Sino-Sri Lankan cooperation faces major opportunities.
